Ballot Released for Charlottesville's Ranked Choice Election
Early voting starts this Friday, May 2.
The official ballot for Charlottesville's City Council primary has been released! This historic election marks the City's first use of ranked choice voting, where voters can rank all the candidates rather than vote for just one.
With early voting starting on Friday, May 2, now's the perfect time to get familiar with the new ballot, and spread the word to friends and neighbors. We've created three resources to help Charlottesville voters get ready to rank.
Ballot Guide
Our online ballot guide shows how the new ballot works. It's easy as 1-2-3. Mark Column 1 for your favorite candidate, Column 2 for your second choice, and Column 3 for the candidate that you like least. View the Ballot Guide →
Yard Signs
Our "Ready to Rank" yard signs can help your neighbors learn about the election, too. The basic sign is a blank ballot, just like the one voters will use in this election. We can also give you stickers to add to the sign and rank the candidates that you like best. Ranked Choice Virginia is strictly non-partisan and doesn't endorse candidates, but you're welcome to use the sign to show your neighbors which candidates you support. Request a Sign →
Ballot Graphics
You can also share the ballot on your digital doorstep! Download ready-made graphics showing all the ways to fill out your ranked choice ballot. These visuals make it easy to explain ranked choice voting to your friends and neighbors on social media. Download and Share Your Ballot →
